Just some notes...

I'm going to be blogging in two places in the month of May. I'll be here as much as I can, but I'll also be posting at http://www.openbooktoronto.com/ where I'll be Writer in Residence for the month of May. So stop by there too, if you can.

I've some good news – better than good. Spouse Martin's book, Blue Mountain Trouble, has been getting great reviews. See one here
http://www.quillandquire.com/books_young/review.cfm?review_id=6474

It's a crossover YA novel, about twins (a boy and a girl) who live high in the mountains of Jamaica and who encounter a magical goat. Published by Arthur A. Levine Books, an imprint of Scholastic Press, simultaneously in the USA ($16.99) and Canada (C$21.99). ISBN9780-0-545-04156-0.

See an interview with Martin at

I haven't let go of the matter of my last post. I'm coming back to it soon, but it's time to give an account of my visit to Calgary, late though it may be. So that's what's coming up next. Traveling tomorrow, so see you on Friday – in both places. Till then enjoy the frolics of spring...

Don't let anyone stampede you into rushing your account of Calgary, Pam.

Have fun during your residency, Pam.

A magical goat sounds fantastic fun!

FSJL: Thanks. It's I who am stampeding myself. I had a great time in Calgary, which is very different from Toronto, and I wanted the folks who made it possible to know. I'm way behind with e-mail as well, and can't do any catching-up for the next little while. But one simply has to keep on keeping on. Have a good weekend!

Hi Michelle: Thank you. I plan to do my best to enjoy the residency. And yes, Martin's magical goat is fearsome and fun, both at once. Thanks so much for your support. I'm dropping by you soon. Meantime, be well and happy.

I presume you got yourself a nice big cowboy hat. And, of course, an oilfield of your own!

Hi FSJL: The oilfields were cheap, what with the tanked economy and the emphasis on new green technologies, so I got two. I have plans for them. I passed on the cowboy hat. For all the obvious reasons.

Ah, so you're going to be well positioned, as they say, come winter. But those hats are very fashion forward, so you'dx be setting the tone.
